It will be interesting to note the annual salaries of the teams that make the playoffs; in other words, did they get what they paid for?

The Twins are a definite no — of course they didn’t get what they paid for. $49.25 million of their total payroll is going to guys who have injury issues this year (Mauer, Morneau, and Nathan — yes Nathan is back, but he’s still recovering from Tommy John surgery). More than half of their $112.737 million goes to just four players (add Cuddyer to the above three).
The guy who gets thrown under the trade bus the most, Michael Cuddyer, is the only one of the four who they’ve actually got their money’s worth this year (he’s played just about every position, including pitcher).
It’s just tough to look at the list of Twins making too much money. Carl Pavano obviously isn’t worth $8 million per year. And Matt Capps right behind him at $7.15 million? Ouch.
As soon as Justin Morneau’s contract kicked into high gear ($11.6 million in 2009, $15 million in 2010 and 2011), his playing time dropped considerably. He played in 135 games in 2009, 81 in 2010, and 69 this year.

Looks like Minnesota’s the only $100M AL team with W-L pct under .500. Ouch! But the average age of the players is below the norm so if they maintain status quo age-wise they should have something to look forward to but we know it’s all just a crap-shoot! BTW Welcome home! Assume you’re back from the MN trip by now. We missed you! GFBB
