Arlington National Cemetery
“But the mainstay of the big leagues was the reservoir of 4-Fs – males of draft age who had been rejected on physical grounds by the Armed Forces. Not since harem attendants had gone out of style were men’s physical deficiencies so highly prized. Ulcers, hearing defects, and torn cartilages were coveted by team owners.” – Frank Graham, Jr. in Farewell to Heroes (1981)

Very interesting. I didn’t now about Morgan Bulkeley, a Civil War vet. I may do a piece on him for my Civil War blog. All the best.

What a nice tribute! It’s funny I know friends for many years and I didn’t know for a long time they were in the Military. They just don’t brag about it, Thanks, Ronni

I had the privilege of attending a changing of the guard ceremony at Arlington several years ago. It’s an emotional experience I’ll never forget. Had a similar experience watching this video. Thanks for the comment Pat.
